Under My Own Power
Being active
promotes wellness, quality of life, and a sense of well-being. Physical activity
and exercise promotes overall fitness, supports recovery from Binge Eating
Disorder and emotional well-being. Fitness suggests having the vitality to fully
participate in life. I don't believe that we have to stick to the old no pain no
gain mentality. Finding activities and exercises that you actually enjoy makes
an active lifestyle a reality. I found bicycling in the summer of 2005. I love
to ride my bicycle...

January 3, 2006 I bought a brand new Trek 7300 FX.
All I can say at this point, January 4th,
2006, after my first 11
mile ride, is that I'm one happy cyclist. The Trek is a much larger frame,
22.5 inch, as opposed to the 18 inch frame of my first bike. And it's a much
more sophisticated bike even having disc brakes. Riding a bike that is
properly sized is a real joy and I look forward to less problems coping with
my arthritis in the future. Last year I had quite some problems with overuse
injuries due to the ill-fitting first bike. I bought the first bike on a whim
for cheap at Costco just to see if I even liked riding. I did, so now I have
the right bike--a sporty fast well made bike. |

I've had to remove most of the scenic ride pictures from this section to
reduce the overall size of my web site. I'll be rebuilding the sections on my
rides, but with a lot fewer pictures.
